Since 1995 he has been researching and working with Ayahuasca. He has travelled across Amazonia and studied with Don Casimiro In Ecuador and Done Jose in Peru. He also spent time living in "Ciranda", an ayahuasca community in Brazil. In 2003, he worked with Dr. Luis Luna and Ralph Metzner, co-facilitating ayahuasca retreats in Florianopolis, Brazil. He has worked with Stuart Wilde in Europe and has personally conducted various retreats and healing sessions there for the last five years.

Darpan graduated from Flinders University with a B.A (Hons.) majoring in Drama and Psychology. He spent his early years working in the field of the Performing Arts. He worked as a professional actor with prominent Australian Theatre Companies and appeared in numerous stage productions as well as TV and Film. At this time, he also worked as a singer/songwriter, performing solo as well as within a theatre-rock band format, releasing a CD entitled "Die laughing". Throughout the 80's, he studied Chi-gung and Taoism with Dr. Tennyson Yu in Sydney. From the late 80's into the early 90's, he lived in an ashram in India with an enlightened master and studied Meditation and Tantra. During this period he olso lived and studied in a therapeutic community at the Humaniversity in Holland. In the mid 90's, he lived with the Tibetans in Dharamsala where he studied Tibetan Bhuddhism and perfected the art of throat singing and harmonic overtoning. In 1999 he graduated from Chris James' teacher training course and is a qualified Sound Healer.
